FreeCast is an application that combines live TV channels, on demand video, and a streaming search engine. This allows users to find content within the libraries of other streaming applications, such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and more. FreeCast aims to be the single application to solve all of a user’s entertainment needs by collecting and organizing it in one easy-to-use, device-agnostic system.
As the rest of the FreeCast application ecosystem moved towards a modernized design, the Network Details page was one of the most jarring points of contrast.
We wanted to bring this up to the same standard of the new layouts we were building, while improving on the functionality.
One of the frequent pain points produced in testing was the size of the content images in the previous layout; their small size made them difficult to read, and some titles were outright impossible.
In this design, I have bulked up the size of the content images so that they can take center stage. The primary purpose of this screen is to display shows and movies from a streaming service to the user, and that is reinforced by the new design.
I have also modernized the buttons and updated this layout to use a gaussian blur, for better modal readability against the black background.
